And on to 2008!
VCAA announced late last week the exam dates for 2008, and English as always, is first cliche – I’m sorry – cab off the rank, on October 31st, which is a Friday. Which gives you the weekend to get over it, unless you have Drama, which is Friday afternoon … Not, of course, that we’re crossing our chickens before we throw stones.
Hopefully, you have already started to think about your plan of attack for next year … reading the core books for both the Reading and Responding and Context studies; and looking ahead at what will be coming up, and when. Your school will almost certainly have planned when the various pieces of assessment will be studied and completed (and under what conditions. Planning ahead for this can be the most important thing you can do, at this stage. It’s radically different when you undertake a task feeling prepared and ready – as opposed to the, “What? Is that this Monday?” feeling!
These holidays are a time when, for the English course in particular, you can look ahead, read, consider, relax … and maybe even get a little writing begun!
Note too that the 2008 EnglishBook came out in the first week of December (in all good academically-inclined bookstores NOW!). The EnglishBook website is also up and running, and contains some useful introductory material already, with more to follow!
